Assassin snails are freshwater aquarium predators that actively hunt and consume other snails, making them an effective natural solution for controlling unwanted snail populations. These small, striped snails feature distinctive black and yellow or tan banding and typically grow to about 0.75 inches in length. Hardy and low-maintenance, they thrive in standard aquarium conditions and are compatible with most fish species. Assassin snails are carnivorous and will feed on pest snails while leaving plants undamaged. They're ideal for planted tanks and community aquariums where snail overpopulation has become a problem. A single assassin snail can significantly reduce snail populations over time, offering a chemical-free alternative to traditional pest control methods.
